96%. That’s right. 96% of all the kids who have been enrolled in Communities in Schools (CIS) drop out prevention programs graduate high school. That’s—give or take—1,248,000 kids nationwide, and growing!
Is it any wonder with results like these that Walker Furniture chose to partner with CIS and help teens in the Clark County School District not only graduate from high school but develop the necessary skills that allow them to use their high school accomplishments as a launching pad to continue to achieve their future academic and professional goals.
For many of us, the phrase “fine dining,” brings to mind images of a trendy restaurant that is as elegant and sumptuous as its designer menu. Exotic aromas and flavors conjured in the kitchen of a genial celebrity chef, top-notch service, stunning presentation of the specialties of the house and often, a pricey reckoning at the end of the meal often make for a memorable evening.
Menu, of course, is important. But ambiance—the character and atmosphere of the dining room itself and the gracious attitude of the people who prepare and serve the food—is the stage on which any meal becomes a memorable “fine dining” experience.
Walker Furniture is here to tell you that five-star dining is not the exclusive province of an upscale restaurant. With a little help from us and the specialty of your house in the oven, you can create a “fine dining” experience in your home around your dining table.
One sheep. Two sheep. Three sheep. Four. It’s a time-honored tip to bring on the Z’s that dates back to the 12th century--a repetitive task that was part of the job description for medieval sheep herders required to count their livestock before they fell into a hard-earned sleep under the stars in between Crusades.
Twenty-five years! That’s a long time for a company, even one as deeply rooted in the community as Walker Furniture, to consistently and generously open their heart and their pocketbook to anyone, let alone to #? families over the years.
Yet 2018 marks the twenty-fifth year “Home for the Holidays,” Walker Furniture’s flagship good will philanthropic effort, has supplied entire housefuls of new furniture to Las Vegans in need.
It’s been forty-five years since Oscar and Deanne Alterwitz piled their three kids into the family station wagon, and drove from Gary, Indiana to Las Vegas. Their dream was The American Dream, Alterwitz style: To take the expertise they learned in the furniture and mattress business started by Oscar’s father and be of service to the Las Vegas community.
Although Las Vegas continues to enjoy warm temperatures in the Fall, the weather cools just enough to suggest the change of seasons, to call up the burnished golds and oranges in Nature’s color wheel, the peppery tang of burning leaves, and the taste of cinnamon-laced pumpkin pie.
Traditionally, Fall colors consist of burnt oranges, deep maroons, and variations of gold, bronze and brown. “Autumn Maple” (orange with a brown undertone) and “Toast” (You get the picture!) are hot color trendsthis year. Both bring a sense of warmth and a trendy sophistication to any room.
Leather is revered all over the world. It's durable, always in style, and is an anchor for any room or outfit. But why then do prices and the look vary so much? It's in the vocabulary. As a consumer in the world, it's important for you to understand the slight nuances between things that look and feel like leather, but may not be the 100% genuine article.
